9th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors Are Here

0Share

Designed for gaming, creativity, and productivity, Intel® has introduced three new 9th Generation processors into its "Core" CPU lineup. These three processors are only compatible with 300-series chipset-based motherboards with an LGA 1151 socket. Intel's base offering is the Core i5-9600K, with 6 cores, 6 threads, a clock speed of 3.7 GHz, a maximum turbo frequency of 4.6 GHz, and 9MB of cache memory. Moving one rung up the ladder, don't be fooled by the Core i7-9700K. While its clock speed may slightly drop to 3.6 GHz, its cores and threads increase to 8, its maximum turbo frequency is boosted to 4.9 GHz, and it has 12MB of cache memory, making this a solid entry for those who need something mid-level. At the top end of things, the Core i9-9900K keeps the 3.6 GHz clock speed and 8 cores, but increases the number of threads to 16, maximum turbo frequency to 5.0 GHz, and cache memory to 16MB, making it suitable for those looking to engage in advanced tasks.

Each of the processors also features integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630, plus support for dual-channel DDR4-2666 memory, and Intel Optane Memory. If you need even more performance, these processors are unlocked, meaning that they can be overclocked past their maximum speed. However, this is not recommended, since it can cause the processors to run extremely hot and will void the warranty.

Please note that these processors do not include a heatsink or fan and require a separately-sold cooling solution.
